Matthew leads Miller’s Asia Pacific Energy business, part of the firm’s Global Energy Team, specialising in placement strategy and client advisory on both current and emerging risks as the energy transition reshapes the industry.
Over a 37-year career spanning both broking and underwriting, Matthew has led teams on both sides of the table — placing risk and pricing it. This dual perspective gives him a grounded, practical understanding of how insurers assess and manage energy portfolios, insight he brings directly to clients navigating their risk transfer decisions.
He began his career in London placing infrastructure projects into the London market, including early UK Public/Private Project Finance initiatives — a model that has since evolved into the project finance structures used globally today. Matthew relocated to Asia in February 2000 and has spent the 26 years since advising regional clients on their risk and insurance needs — primarily in broking, but also including six years as Head of Energy & Construction for Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty.
Sound, practical advice has remained the throughline of his approach throughout. It’s this passion for advising clients directly that continues to drive him today, leading a team at Miller dedicated to strong placement outcomes and service excellence for power sector clients across Asia Pacific.
