Event Schedule / Asia Power Forum 2022
Updated: 19 Aug 2022
Message from the President
On behalf of the organising committee – welcome to the Asia Power Forum 2022!
We are delighted to welcome you back to the Fullerton Hotel in Singapore for our fourth annual Conference (after something of an enforced break due to the COVID-19 pandemic).
The aim of the Forum is to enhance awareness and discussion of specialist issues relevant to power generation insurance through the promotion of dialogue on the challenges faced by stakeholders.
Many of those challenges have been brought into sharp contrast (and in some cases accelerated) by the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, supply chain disruptions, the consequences of war and unrest, and the urgent need to move towards renewable sources of energy due to climate change.
Various of the topics at this year’s Forum touch on these issues, not least our panel sessions considering “Challenges in a Disruptive World” and “The Energy Transition in Asia”. The main day includes various interesting presentations on a range of subjects, from discussions on floating solar; energy storage; and an analysis of the development of wind power; to underwriting and claims considerations arising out of political violence.
We are also delighted to welcome back David Hughes, CEO of The New Normal, to provide our Keynote address: “Apocalypse? Now?”
The Forum also seeks to promote knowledge development for industry newcomers. With this in mind, this year’s half-day ‘primer’ session covers a range of introductory topics for those new to the insurance market and/or the power industry, in relation to both traditional power generation risks and renewables.
There should be various opportunities for networking at and around the event and we very much hope that you enjoy catching up with colleagues in the industry (in some cases doubtless after quite some time!)
As always, we are incredibly grateful for the support of our sponsors and speakers, without which we would not have been able to stage what we trust will be another successful and thought-provoking conference. We hope you enjoy the conference!
